Look Like A Hippy
ShareIf you are going to be dressing like a hippy for any reason, there are many things you can do to achieve this very specific and fun look. Here are some pointers on looking like a hippy, so you can do it with as little work as possible.
Go to the thrift store to shop
A lot of the things that you will need to pull off the look can be purchased at your local thrift store. The best part about this is you can get exactly what you need to achieve the desired results for a fantastic price. While you are at the thrift store, you want to look for beaded jewelry, wooden jewelry, any accessories that have peace signs on them, brown leather belts, brown leather sandals, Brown leather boots, colorful scarves, a brown leather vest or a jean material vest.
Purchase bell bottom jeans or corduroy pants
You may not find bell bottom jeans at the thrift store, but you can find them on one of the popular sales and auction sites online. Try to purchase bell bottoms that have been designed to look as if they are worn out. If you aren't able to locate bell bottoms, then you may find corduroy pants to be much easier to locate. Either type of pants will help you to achieve the exact style you are going for. Also, a long bright skirt may work in warmer weather. If you can find one with tie dye coloring, then that would be great.
Get a vintage tie dye shirt
One of the most important things to get will be a vintage tie dye shirt. This is a must-have item for anyone who is trying to put off a hippy appearance. You can find these shirts in many different styles and colors, so you can choose one that will go with the rest of your clothing and help you to get the exact look you want.
Wear a vest or jacket
If it is a bit chilly outside, then this is great. It means you can add another layer of hippy to yourself. You can use a leather or jean vest or jacket to pull the entire look together. Keep in mind, you don't want to wear a leather jacket like the style you would see on a biker, but you want more of a 70s style one.
Sew patches on your clothing
Patches like butterfly patches, rainbow patches, and peace sign patches can be sewn to your pants, vest or jacket to give you that special touch that screams hippy.
