If you are going to be doing your laundry at the laundromat, and you'll be bringing your small child with you, then you should be prepared to keep them entertained. If you don't take the appropriate steps to make sure your little one doesn't get bored, then you may find that laundry day suddenly becomes the longest day you have had in a very long time. Learn about ways you can go about keeping your small child happy and entertained at the laundromat by reading the information in this article.

Bring a DVD player and their favorite movie

If there is a certain movie that always manages to distract your little one and keep them sitting for the entire duration that it's playing, then you should bring that movie and a portable DVD player to the laundromat with the two of you. Also, consider bringing a comfortable chair for your child to sit in while they are watching the movie. In fact, if going to the laundromat is something the two of you are going to be doing on a regular basis, then you may want to invest in an appropriately sized bean-bag chair or an inflatable chair. This way, your child will always have a comfy seat while you are doing your laundry.

Put together a bag of new toys that are just for the laundromat

When you know you are going to be taking your little one to the laundromat with you, it is a good idea to go to the store and purchase some inexpensive and fun toys you know that your child will like. Put these toys in a duffle bag and don't let your little one see them until the two of you are already at the laundromat. Then, you can open the duffle bag and let them have a great time playing with all of the new and exciting toys. When you are done doing your laundry, pack the toys back up in the duffle bag and put the bag in the trunk of your car. Leave the bag there for the next time the two of you do laundry. This way, the toys will stay new and exciting for your child. This can actually help them look forward to laundry day.

Bring a comfortable bed and go at naptime

If your child is a heavy sleeper and still takes naps, then you can really use this to your advantage. You can get your child a comfy bed, like a thick sleeping bag, and make it so you go to the laundromat during their regular naptime. You can lay the sleeping bag on a bench and sit next to them while they sleep and while you wait for your clothes to get done. If the laundromat you go to doesn't have seating that works for your child's nap, you may want to purchase a small inflatable child's couch to use for this situation.
