The time is finally here. You've been looking forward to your trip to the beach for months now and it's now so close you can feel it. But before you head out to play in the sand and surf, make sure you are prepared for your fun in the sun. Here's a last minute checklist of things you don't want to head to the beach without.

Clothing and Accessories for the Beach

Sure, you'll be in your swimsuit for most of your time on the beach. But what if you just want to relax on the sand for a bit? In that case, it's a good idea to pack a few things that can help provide you with a little shade. A beach hat would be a good start, as it will protect your head and shield your eyes at the same time. If you want to have fun with it, you could even opt for a personalized beach hat with your name and the name of the beach you will be traveling to.

Aside from that, sunglasses are also a must. You'll be able to stare into the water without the glare of the sun bothering you and the right sunglasses can also protect your eyes from the sun's UV rays. A beach umbrella could also be a good idea, as it's another way to shade your head if there isn't any natural shade to be found. A cover-up or your your favorite t-shirt is also a good idea for when you have to head up to the boardwalk. Regardless of which clothing items you decide to bring, make sure you do the same for the rest of your family as well.

Protection While in the Water

While the right clothing and accessories can protect you from the sun while you are on the beach, don't forget about protection while you are in the water. Sunscreen is of course a must and don't be afraid to use a higher SPF count, especially for you're children.

If you want a little extra protection and you don't plan on going all the way underneath the water, that personalized beach hat will likely still look good on you while you're out in the ocean. A large, floppy beach hat in particular can shield at least part of your shoulders in addition to your head.

Fun and Games

Finally, don't forget to bring a few things that you and the kids can have fun with. A beach ball comes to mind, as well as some amateur diving gear like a snorkel. Buy the kids a new metal detector and they can have fun hunting for treasure up and down the beach.
